Ordonez for Sosa?

Postby wphouserat » Sat Apr 05, 2003 7:25 am

A Sox fan in my league is intent on trading for M. Ordonez and offered Sammy straight up. What do you guys think? I know its a fair deal, but I drafted Ordonez in the second round and he followed by taking Sosa with the next pick. Who would you rather have for this year only?

if the cubs can keep up this kind of attitude on the field, i'd rather have sosa right now. alou seems to have his .320 stroke back, which protects sosa. now that #500's out of the way, sosa hopefully figures out that he ought to regress to his .2001 form. if by some miracle grudzie manages to get on at a .400+ clip, not to mention alex gonzalez hitting a steady .280+ (both of which are happening beyond those levels now) while the cubs are pitching well, i think sosa will take more base hit hacks, more doubles, and then become the complete hitter that made him a fantasy stud in '01.

mags is solid, he will be a veritable lock for 35/110, but i definitely think sammy has more upside... maybe mags hasn't hit that career yet, but i don't think mags will ever put up 64/160, while it wouldn't be unfathomable for sammy to do the same if he can get locked in again.

so yeah, go for sosa, hombre.

Take Sammy Sosa.
