Is Lugo underrated?

Postby Members Only Jackets » Thu Jun 10, 2004 2:06 pm

I don't hear much talk about this guy yet he has 35RBI's..Not bad for a SS. I just added him for insurance in case Feliz hits the crapper--although I'm tempted to play Lugo because he strikes out less....

So, anyone have thoughts on this guy?

I've been watching him all year hoping he tails off since I have been reluctant to put him on my teams in the leagues he's still available in. I'll probably pick him up in the mid season leagues after he clears waivers, so be ready for him to fall off the face of the earth after mid season leagues start scoring. ;-D :-D Seriously though he has been a nice surprise, one of the bigger ones of the first half I think given the way the team has been slumping so far. ;-D

finally... :-°

have him on a few of teams... and i also think that hes underrated.. he will be one of the few 15-15 SS's this year (even 20-20 maybe), something which should never be underestimated.. he'll also produce for you RBI and RUN wise switching between the no. 2 and no. 6 spot.

interesting fact.. he leads the d-rays in rbi's this year ;-D
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.

I saw somebody compare him to Jeter last year, saying there stats were very close, and I thought "yeah, right". I went and checked it out, and other than BA, he was actually pretty close, and in 50 less at-bats. That promted me to take Lugo in the last round of my 18 team league as my starting SS, until my prospect keeper Bobby Crosby was ready for fantasy action. So far, I'm very impressed with him ;-D Better than Jeter last year, better than Jeter this year. Another fact that makes Jeter being compared to the elite SS's a ridiculous idea. And before I get flamed, obviously Jeter was going through a slump and I'd take him over Lugo. It's just interesting to see that Lugo's been better, or at least very close to better, the last 2 seasons.

I also believe that there's a good possibility of Upton coming up after All-Star break and Lugo moving to 2nd.

I picked him up when Berroa didn't pan out and he's been doing a pretty decent job. Now that Sheffield and Carlos Lee are finally waking up a bit, the results have been a bit better overall. I don't really look at Lugo as a problem although I'm kind of flipping Feliz depending on how the pitching/ weather/ etc. matchups all break down.

if you look at Lugo's 2nd half stats last year you would of saw that he was really good. i knew he would be a good source at SS this year so I got him in all my deep leagues for extra cheap. and yes he is obviously underrated, if you talk to anyone about just his name w/ out stats most will laugh. bring in his stats and most people are usually very surprised. oh yeah and he is a devil ray, they are always underated. well, the few good ones we have at the moment.
