NEWS: June 7
SKINNY: Palmeiro will probably be rested Tuesday against Randy Johnson, as he is 1-for-21 with five strikeouts lifetime against the lefthander, the Washington Post reports.

Thanks, guys. That makes no sense. Just making sure there wasn't some injury. That said, you'd like to see the HOFer match up against the HOFer -- even if he has a bad past history against him.

Yeah, as a Raffy owner I'm glad they rested him, as I've decided not to play him against ANY lefty starters for now. I mean, just look at his splits: VS. LEFT: .157 / .453 VS. RIGHT: .326 / .976
(BA / OPS, lifted from ESPN of course)

the funy thing is though raffy typically excels during interleague play according to the O's commentators last night (he is near the top of the list in HR's), but obviously performance versus lefties is much more substantive than "performance during interleague games" so that is why the decision was made.

That is not your avg lefty and 1-21 pretty much speaks for itself. Raffy probably had no problems sitting at all. He will be in the lineup tonite for sure.

From Rototimes:
Jun. 8 Rafael Palmeiro (1B) Bal was not in the lineup Tuesday because Orioles manager Lee Mazzilli decided to stack his lineup with all right-handed and switch-hitters against Randy Johnson.
