Amazing, two nights in a row he's blown saves......and I mean, blown the big one----not just 1 ER, but 4!!! I love this game---one swing of the bat is all it takes some time.

Oh, another quote I heard the other day from Vernon Wells (ballplayer?)

"Experience is the toughest teacher because you get the test first and the lesson after"

I guess the silver lining for D-Back fans (I'm not, but they're the only team covered locally) is that BK's statement sounded like something Patrick Roy would say after getting pummeled !+) . Not bad to have that kinda confidence as a closer, IF HE really believes it? 8-o What a tough trip to Houston eh? I think it was 7 ER, 3 Bombs in 1 inning pitched. Ouch!

Bad timing for Kim, too, with Mantei returning... But you're right - that's the kind of confidence (cockiness?) a closer needs!

And the comparison to Patrick Roy from a New Mexico based baseball fan warmed this even more rabid hockey fan's heart.

Arlo - does fantasyhockeycafe.com start in the fall? ;-) ;-)

Very Perceptive tallmike, hockey is and always was my true sports passion. Though presently living in New Mexico, I too am from the "frozen north" and will always consider that to be my real "home." :-] A hockey forum sounds just right to me. ;-D

Hmm... it's certainly an idea worth kicking around. :-> We had basically planned to devote our energies to baseball and football for now, but nothing's etched in stone yet. (We did, at any rate, reserve the domain name already when launching this project...)

One problem is that none of us are true hockey specialists. I'm the only one here who plays fantasy hockey at all (usually gm style), and I'm not really much of an expert. Another is minor details like server fees and the like.

Maybe the first issue could be overcome by making such a site even more forums-based than this one, and/or by more actively asking for guest articles. And who knows - maybe we could find a sponsor to cover the second problem.

The biggest problem might be time, however.

Anyway, I'm just thinking aloud right now. It's certainly worth giving this idea some more thought. Hmm...

Arlo,
You certainly ARE an accomodating host, Thanks. But don't worry at all about a hockey board if that's not you guys thing. As diehard hockey junkie without a fix, I was just wistfully thinking about the sport, much as I'm sure NFL junkies do Feb-Mar. You guys are doing a great job, though I haven't looked over the FootballCafe yet, (I will soon) I know you'all have put together a REALLY NICE baseball site. ;-D Us hockey fans just have to sweat out the summer and wait our turns. :-/ It's just tougher this year as the hockey was especially riveting with the Olympics and epic playoff performances. Anyway, it's nice to know there's at least one other hockey nut here too, in tallmike :-]

Aww... :-] (closest icon I could find to blushing.) All I can say is, it's easy to be accomodating when it's webmeister menyak who would actually be doing the work here... B-) Anyway, thanks.

And I do understand how hard withdrawal can be, especially after such great playoffs (even if the Bruins didn't go all the way, grumble grumble). Actually, the whole hockey season was pretty good this year.

Oh well - in a sense, the season's starting to get off the ground already. Oates on a line with Kariya? Now there's something to look forward to!
