Some of these trades are horrible but others were done because the player was going to leave anyway. Big Mac was not staying with the A's period. He wanted either Anaheim or St. Louis. The A's were in a bad situation and were lucky to get anything really.

As a Redsox fan, I was pissed when they traded away Bagwell but they were in a pennant race and needed pitching. Mo was their guy anyway at first and I think they were happy with Boggs at 3rd. They had a stacked system then (offensively). I was also pissed when the traded Phil Plaintier to SD. I thought that guy was going to be the future. I guess that is why I am not a GM.

As a Jay's Fan here in Toronto I might add:

December 5, 1990:

Toronto got: Roberto Alomar & Joe Carter

San Diego got: Fred McGriff & Tony Fernandez

It lead to back to back World Series in 92 & 93 Championships ;-D
