I think it would be great if we could see a player that is so incredibly talented as a pitcher and a hitter that he would pitch every fifth day and play a position when he is not pitching. We sometimes see a pitcher bat 8th for whatever reason, or a pitcher pinch hit (Hamtpon, Willis) but if we could have a Babe Ruth type player that could do it all I think that would truly be amazing. Why not? True, players are groomed to do one or the other but I'm sure it could be done. Most high school and college players can mash and pitch. If one special talent came along, and it was clear they could do both does anyone think this could ever happen?

yeah it would never work because of the mass confusion and possibly riots of fantasy baseball commissioners trying to decide whether he be put in as a pitcher or a postition player.

Hypothetically, let's say they qualified this Ruthian player as both pitcher and fielder. Would you get/lose points from ABs on the days that he was a pitcher and not a position player?

Ruth didn't play anywhere near everyday when he was a pitcher.
