Also, who did the Mets go with with the 3rd pick, Niemann?
Mets went with Humber. I think Weaver fell because there was a lot of hype surrounding his name. Baseball America reported that although the hype machine loves him he isn't as respected by scouts and GMs.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

the other poster nailed it. the guy wants ridiculus money. ESPN's mock draft actually had him falling to the yankees since they were the only team that would pony up the dough
yeah, like we want another weaver
he also might have taken a hit because his brother is a head case. Drew dropped for similar reasons

Why would they? They always take HS players, unless I'm missing something, they're GM isn't Depodesta is it? it is a bum named Dan Evans.
Depodesta is GM
Thanks for setting me straight. In that case I am absolutely shocked because he did study after sudy on how college players are more reliable. Maybe there is some ownership conflict here with who they wanted.
Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

Yes. He wanted 10 million (like Prior) he isn't projcted to be more than a #3 starter. There is no one in this draft that would be pojected as a top 3 talent in most drafts, so a lot of teams don't want to give that much money to players that might not be great.
