he had a great outing today. 6.2 innings, 7 hits, 1 er, 1 bb, 10 k's. And this was against the Phillies. I'd say to pick him up if u got an empty spot or u need a pitcher, and see if he continues on this path.

I agree. If he'd struck out 10 D-Rays that's one thing. To pick up 10 against the likes of Thome, Burrell, and Abreu says something. I'm rolling the dice on him.

Redman is a finesse pitcher, and one of the worst strikeout pitchers in bb. I wouldnt get excited.

Redman was pretty highly regarded when he was a Twin. He had an awesome spring last year for Detroit only to stink it up once the real games started.

He has some potential, but like Hootie mentioned, he hasn't been a big K guy in the past, so this is likely an anomoly.

The best thing to do in the beginning of the season is to do a little research before rushing to pick-up hot players. If a SS hits 2 HR's in a game, find out if he has a history of power, or if this is an anamoly. I don't know how often you'll find it's just a veteran journeyman who htis an average of 5 HR's a year, or in this case, a finesse pitcher who won't strikeout a lot of batters this year, but did strike out lots of batters in this particular game. Research unless you're so desperate you need pick up somebody, anybody!
