So Florida would trade prospects and Carlos Beltran, all for JOSE CONTRERAS?!?!

they wouldn't be trading prospects AND beltran, they'd just be trading prospects

therefore theyd be trading prospects and Beltran, because theyd trade betlran to get contreras the rumor said.

Prospects ----> Beltran
Beltran ------> Contreras

:-P :-P :-P

no, think of it as a three way deal and you'll see that's not the correct way of thinking about it

kc gets: prospects
fla gets: contreras
nyy gets: beltran

likewise

kc gives: beltran
fla gives: prospects
nyy gives: contreras

Tavish wrote:Yeah, it's a bogus rumor. It looks like the Padres are the current front-runners (Burroughs/Nady), although the Yankees have finally thrown out a name that caught Baird's attention - Dioner Navarro. The Mets could have him in a heartbeat but they have flat out said that Wright is untouchable. The Phillies apparently still have Byrd and perhaps Floyd or Hamels on the table. The only team I keep hearing mentioned but have no idea what they would offer is the Red Sox. My guess right now is Beltran/Randa to San Diego for Burroughs/Nady/Long.

The Marlins apparently are interested in Grimsley from the Royals.

I can guarantee you that Kevin Towers will not be trading Sean Burroughs. ;-D

Nady Yes.
Tankersly Yes
Burroughs No. :-D

It seemed pretty odd to me too, but after reading it in several different publications I thought things might have changed. Up until last week I had pretty much assumed that Randa would be an Angel before the deadline, but the Burroughs talk makes me wonder.

Burroughs has been untouchable since he has been here.
No way Kevin would trade him away now that he is starting to see the fruit of his labor. Burroughs is untouchable, any rumor involving him is just that rumor. bogus rumor.

but I would be curious to read the articles ... ya gotta link?
