Joe Borowski may have finally lost his spot as the Cubs' closer.
According to Manager Dusty Baker, "We may have to make a change soon to relieve Joe and find out what's wrong," Baker said. "They (Borowski and team medical personnel) say it's nothing, but I hope it's something so we can get to the bottom of it." Although he won't offically admit it, LaTroy Hawkins looks to be the Cubs' closer in the immediate and perhaps longer-term future. We, along with many others have been waiting for this to happen for quite some time. Jun. 6 - 10:58 am et

I heard Wagner was going to pitch in the minors Sunday and be ready possibly Tuesday. Sorry I don't have a link but he is on my team and I think it might have been fanball or espn.
Jun 5 The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Philadelphia Phillies P Billy Wagner (groin), who has missed 28 games with a groin injury, felt so good throwing off a mound Friday, June 4, his target date for returning from the DL has been moved up to Tuesday, June 8.

this makes me nervous as a Hawkins owner ... for fun, i went away from the starter-based pitching i won w/last year and experimented w/a full reliever set (targeting WHIP, ERA & saves out of the 3 pitching cat's ...)
so far, so good ... i'm using Wagner, Foulke, Nathan, Hoffman, Hawkins, Lidge & K-Rod HOWEVER, hawkins really tends to act a fool when he's given the closer role ... his WHIP and ERA are much better when he's the set-up man ...
we shall see but i don't know if he's got the makeup to be a closer
chip carray is reporting that borowski is going on the DL and the cubs will go with the "closer by committee." his exact words were closer by committee but i imagine that is just another way of referring to hawkins. i also imagine that dusty will continue to say the job belongs to borowski and he will get it once he gets straightened out but as long as hawkins is effective i think hawkins will remain the closer.
