Is this a 10th place team?

Postby Bloody Nipples » Thu Jun 03, 2004 1:57 am

In the last 3 weekly matchups, I have dropped from tied for 4th place all the way to 10th place. I am now 18.5 games out of 1st place and 7.5 games out of the last playoff spot. As of yesterday's stats, I am losing this week's matchup 12-2. On team below me is inactive, and the other has made so many stupid trades that he is worse than inactive. There is an inactive team that is ahead of me in the standings by 2 games. As you can see, I am really frustrated. Here is my team:

MY ROSTER:
(12 team H2H non-keeper League)

BATTERS: R, H, 2B, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OBP, SLG
C: Varitek
1B: Teixeira
2B: Jose Vidro
3B: Miguel Cabrera
SS: Tejada
IF: Young
OF: Beltran
OF: Burnitz
OF: Figgins
OF: Kearns
Util: Overbay
Util: Victor Martinez
BN: Vidro
BN: Mondesi
DL: Reyes

PITCHERS: W, CG, SHO, SV, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP, K/BB
SP: M Mussina
SP: Oliver Perez
SP: Carpenter
RP: Kolb
RP: Frasor
P: F Cordero
P: Willis
P: Worrell
BN: Beckett (DL)
BN: Greinke
BN: Washburn
DL: Wood

The other owners in my league have seen how much I have dropped in the standings the last few weeks, and one in particular has been trying to take advantage of that fact to pry some underperforming players from my team. I actually had a trade all set with him that would have been in my favor (long term and short term) and his, but he backed out because Pujols had a 2 HR game. We have been trying to work something out since, and he keeps saying that the following is a good trade for me long-term and short-term:

I get Abreu, Thome

He gets Beltran, M Cabrera

I have held off for now, and just recently compared their combined stats to date. My current players actually beat his players 6-3. Am I right to not accept this trade? Or is it actually good for me?

Another question I have is about 2B. Vidro has been a disappointment, so I have had to find a replacement until he heats up a little. Utley was great for a couple weeks, but has cooled off considerably since. The best options I have are

Scott Hairston
Jerry Hairston
Tony Womack
Mark Bellhorn
Willie Harris

Who should I go with to replace Utley until Vidro returns to form?

Since you have taken the time to read all this and respond in some depth, I will analyse your team in the same depth if you post a link.

Thanks a ton.

well i persoanly have Hairston Jr at 2nd.... but another option could be belhorn... his average wont be as good though... and you get Sbs with hairson.....

dont do the beltran cabrera trade... its not good in my opinion...if it was puljos then you do it.....

overall its a pretty good balanced team... decent power....a little lacking in speed, but thats what beltran is for... a pretty decnet starting staff and a good core of closers.....you should do well in the long run.... you might look to bring some big players in with some 2 for one trades..... becuase as of now i see this as a 3rd or 4th place team
areas to target for upgrade....1B 2B and a little bit in the OF... and SP.....

I went with Jerry Jr. at second, dropping Utley. I agree about the trade; if it was Pujols, I would do it. I tried to give Young and Vidro for Kent, and the guy almost accepted, but then backed out. Who besides Young could I package with Vidro for Kent?
