Redman is signed for another 2 years (I believe) and he is definetly NOT a bullpen type guy. While I am all for Harden starting as I have liked him sinse he entered the Oakland farm system, I can't see the harm in throwing him in the pen because they simply have no room among the starting 5. Hey, its better using his talent now then sending him to the minors for 2 years and then calling him up when redman leaves.

I could see the A's trading Redman, in order to make room for Blanton in the rotation. The A's got Redman very cheap and although they were the last team that needed a quality starter, he was cheap and why not? Redman is signed for the next 3 years and with

Harden in in at #5, with Duke and Blanton looking in.

I personally think trading Redman in the offseason for a bat would be a good move, then moving Blanton into the rotation w/ the Duke closing........I agree witjh ZIG somewhat, Harden would be great out of the pen, but unless he implodes as a starter he isnt going anywhere. Many scouts say Harden will be better then Hudson, Mulder, or Zito

i'd actually like to see harden go as a closer. Beane's a genius when it comes to building up a closer, and with Harden's heater he could do some damage. The only thing is he's got to much talent to be used for just one inning, its a bit of a catch-22. I say trade Redman off for a bat and move Blanton up.
