How soon do you give up on a draft bust?

Postby BeefSandwiches » Wed Jun 02, 2004 3:12 pm

Last year, how early did you waive goodbye to Pat Burrel? Is anyone out there still holding Ponson? If so, for how long?

I know it all depends on league/roster/player, but I'm interested to hear the big names owners have dropped and why.

Thanks.

I couldn't be happier that I picked Rocket over Ponson for my 8th and final keeper spot. I'd rather not play the waiting game with a guy who has never played to his full potential. Last year is beginning to look like an aberration.......I don't care if he faces Montreal half the season, I don't want him :-P

Rule of thumb that I adhere to for players that are under achieving is

Early draft rounds - Never

4th to 6th round - all star break

7th to 10th round - about this time

11th plus get a shorter leash. A month is usually enough.

Only exceptions to all of this is for closers. The bads ones are usually still burning me in August :-P
