Mulder/Hudson/Zito to redsox???

Postby Rapps5 » Wed Jun 02, 2004 2:40 pm

I've heard that the redsox may be working a deal to get mulder hudson or zito from the As for Kevin Youkilis after Chavez broke his hand...how much truth could there be in this statement?

i doubt it....Oakland is still in the race this year and they need those 3 to keep going. Certainly not to another potential wildcard team like the redsox.

Billy Beane DOES have a hard-on for Youkilis though and Oakland can't keep all three after the season.

I'm not familiar with any of their contracts, but Zito is the only pitcher I would even consider trading...Hudson and Mulder are just too good to let go for a mediocre 3rd basemen.

agreed. they wont give one of them up for youkilis

zito- club option for 2006(so FA after that)
Mulder- club option for 2006
hudson- FA after 2005

i got this info from a site that seemed semi-outdated, but i dont think any of them have been extended, so the info should be accurate

Obviously wouldn't be just Youkilis. Maybe Youkilis and Lowe or Youkilis and Kim and another minor leaguer.

My bad then. I do remember hearing or reading somewhere though that one of them won't be with the team next year.

i doubt the A's would take back any big contracts(kim or Lowe) when giving up one of their pitchers. it will take some big time prospects to get one of those guys, and im not sure youkillis is gonna make it happen. he doesnt project to be an all star type player, plus he plays the same position as chavez. i realize he is injured, but i dont see billy beane panicking and dealing zito.

im not too familiar with the boston system. do they have any more big time hitters coming?

that is the stupidest rumor ive ever heard.

the a's have way to much major league ready 3b depth in there farm system to deal one of there big 3 Sp's who are all signed for atleast another 2 seasons at 5 million.
