Tigers top 6 - Note 5 of the top 6 bat above .300

Alex Sanchez - .359
Carlos Guillen - .319
Ivan Rodriguez - .333
Dmitri Young - .385
Rondell White - .312
Bobby Higginson - .290

Now compare them to the Atlanta top 6

Rafael Furcal - .246
Nick Green - .300
J.D. Drew -.288
Chipper Jones -.237
Johnny Estrada -.349
Andruw Jones - .255

You make the call.

Well I really could care less about the first 50 games of the season, especially when you consider the injuries to Chipper and Furcal. You fail to realize that every single one of those Tigers is overachieving. Career averages..( and Dmitri is hitting .385 through 18 AB, real impressive )

Sanchez = .294
Guillen = .269
Pudge = .305
Young = .296
White = .289
Higginson = .276

You have to be a Tigers fan to even suggest that.

Again...all I said was that there wasn't many teams that could put up a better 1-6. Simple as that. Obviously there are better.

I'll agree that Atalnta's offense has been underperforming so far, but the fact remains that they're not hitting well so Armas' performance can't be considered a strong start against an elite lineup.

I think this thread has gotten a little derailed from the topic of Armas' effectiveness, which is something I'd like to hear more people talking about . ..

Yes. Whatever the ability of Atlanta's lineup, it sure took flight against the Expos' pen! Therefore, I'm going to be cautiously optimistic with Armas' effort, and glad to see him back.

ok, well, when in Rome . . . the Phillies DEFINITELY have the best 3-5 so far. Go Phillies!

In fact, I'd say the Abreu-Thome-Burrell trio has been so awesome this year that it carries the Phillies' overall 1-6 into the upper echelon of 1-6s, despite the fact that their leadoff men have disappointed for most of the season.
