Lyle Overbay, he's hitting .349 and is demolishing NL Central pitching, which isn't a pushover. I know he'll cool down and hit somewhere around .280 but as of now, he's the biggest suprise in my book.

Matt Lawton and his Beltran eclipsing numbers so far...
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.

i think that since we are talking about the surprises, we shouldn't forget about the bad ones... like Jose Vidro. tryin to think of someone else who started out bad and still is bad... :-?

Not too often does a young catcher undrafted in most leagues come along putting up all-star caliber numbers at the plate like Victor Martinez .287/9hr/39rbi before June.

Mora, Martinez, Estrada. Mora's BA has just been incredible. I think and thought he was going to slow down a while ago...still hasn't. Even jacked one today.

I targeted Martinez late in my drafts. Took him in the late teens or so...I didn't expect this sort of power production, though. Very pleased.

Estrada's clutch hitting has been incredible, too.

Ben Sheets and Brad Penny are both pitching really well.
