Sweetest Swing....still Griffey?

Postby G-Man » Mon May 31, 2004 11:04 am

Junior Griffey may not be hitting for avg anymore but he IS hitting for power and having had a chance to watch several Reds games I remember why he was heralded as having the purest, sweetest swing in baseball. But is this still the case?

Other guys I can think of are Shawn Green (even though he rarely hits anything besides air these days), Raffy Palmeiro (nice fluid stroke), and Manny Ramirez.

any other thoughts for the sweetest MLB swing?

It may not be as pretty, but Bonds' swing is about as perfect as they come. Everything about it mechanically perfect.

LaRoche is a youngster with a nice one.

Julio Franco's is the best! ;-) Does anybody know how the hell Franco got that stroke? It's ugly and looks contorted. It looks to me like it'd hurt for me to have my ass stuck out so much. In addition, how does he get his bat back down to swing since it's leaning forward so much.

Damn the lefties getting all the love. I think Griffey has the most effortless looking swing, but the swing I love to watch the most is Soriano's.

The only person I enjoy watching bat more is Randy Johnson (of course for completely different reasons).

One Word

Man, that guy has a mean looking swing.

This is one that will not get a lot of votes or consideration, but few can argue that it is a beautiful swing...John Olerud.

Doesn't hit for much power, average is starting to go now too, but he still has that compact, level...perfect swing. Watching him play for the Mets was great.

is it just me or does lefties tend to have better looking swings than righties? one of my votes for prettiest swings ever was will clark's.
franco and brian downing's swings might have been the ugliest.
one vote for ugliest stance has to go to tony batista.

yeah LaRoche has a sweet swing, but I always enjoy watching Griffeys. Pujols has a ferocious confident looking swing

And Franco can start his bat wherever he wants to because he can hit line drives with a donut on it :D
