I think Derchesher sp? would make a fine closer and can't see how they aren't entertaining that option. Nasty stuff. Only seen him live twice but was obviously impressed.

uhhh, Deucher won the AAA Pacific Coast League Cy Young/Pitcher of the year last year in Sacramento.

Something like 15-2 record, 2's ERA, flashy K/BB ratio.

your right there. and i cant see him getting into the rotation with Blanton coming. The big three are all signed thru next year, and mulder and zito have options for 06 which im sure the A's will exercise. To get a starting job in oakland for the next few years is gonna be tough. Thats a good thing for our A's, cuz its what keeps them competitive.

Funny, we're not hearing much from the Billy Beane supporters out there who thought Rhodes success was a given because Beane was 100% at turning average relievers into stud closers.

what happened to the new armslot delivery/slider (can't remember exactly what) that rhodes attributed his solid outings immediately after returning from injury to? rendered ineffective or forgot to use them?

sounds like it is time to start trying to move rhodes (thanks for the insight GSes) before he is replaced, although hopefully he can put together a handful of decent outings to boost his trade value enough to get something adequate in return.....
