Here's an interesting trade rumor that's worth keeping an eye on.
A Chicago newspaper claims two sources confirmed the Cubs have had internal discussions about acquiring Ichiro Suzuki from the Seattle Mariners to give them the leadoff hitter they're sorely lacking.
The Cubs have yet to initiate talks with the Mariners, but a high-ranking Cubs official said it is something the team might want to pursue in July.
"I haven't had any serious discussions with anyone," Cubs GM Jim Hendry said. "Honestly, my first and foremost priority is to get our own (injured players) back. Come July, we'll see what we need, but right now, it's way too early.
"I haven't had any discussions with anyone despite what everyone is speculating."
The Cubs, after placing outfielder Tom Goodwin on the disabled list Friday, have nine players on the DL. That's the most since the start of record keeping in 1970.
Just found this pretty interesting while reading the paper down here in Tacoma (bout 30 mins south of Seattle) What teh hell is going on with this team, there aren't in that big of trouble yet. I really hope this is just a dumb rumor.
Well, the Mariners are going to have to rebuild, and it looks like this year will be the start. If they get some good prospects to speed up the rebuilding process they have to do it. Keeping vets like Guardado and Ichiro around won't help much if your team isn't contending.

This is the part that makes me think this won't happen. The Cubs have a good OF (and Alou is killing the ball so far ), so getting Ichiro wouldn't make much sense. If they want to upgrade the leadoff spot, they would proably have to upgrade at 2B or SS.
I dont believe this rumor at all, Ichiros not gonna replace Sammy in RF, unless Patterson gets injured again theres no way this would happen, and Walkers OBP is close to .400 last time I checked, what more can you ask for. Plus, Seattles not gonna get rid of their money producer.

This is the first thing i thought of, i mean if any of you have ever been to safeco field for game, you know what i mean. I don't think it will happen either, i was just a little taken back reading the sports page this morning.
