From Fanball.com

The News
Giants' closer Robb Nen says his shoulder is ready to start the season following his first outing against major-league batters on the spring Saturday. "It's a little cranky. But no big deal," Nen told the San Jose Mercury News yesterday. "We'll see how things go (Monday)." Nen underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder to clean up his labrum last November.

Our View
Get Nen in your lineup, but be advised that he may not be used on consecutive days at the start of the season. Tim Worrell and Felix Rodriguez could each see a save opportunity or two in April.

The giants put nen on the DL today...

San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - San Francisco Giants closer Robb Nen was placed on the 15-day disabled before Monday's season-opener against San Diego. Nen is suffering from a strained right shoulder and is expected to see noted sports surgeon Dr. Lewis Yocum on Tuesday.

The 10-year veteran underwent arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder after the 2002 season, when he posted a record of 6-2 with a 2.20 earned run average and 43 saves for the National League champions.

Nen, 33, pitched one inning on Saturday in an exhibition game to test the shoulder. He is eligible to return April 14.

The Giants will likely use Tim Worrell and Felix Rodriguez in save situations while Nen is sidelined.

Righthander Jim Brower was recalled from Triple-A Fresno to fill the roster spot. Brower was acquired by the Giants on March 24 from the Montreal Expos for righthander Livan Hernandez, utility player Edwards Guzman and cash.

Brower was sent to Triple-A Fresno last week when the 25-man roster was set.
