i thought he broke it eating Jell-o.
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll drown because you forgot to teach him to swim.

it might be the pitching injury of the season. Kelvim Escobar missed some time because of a cracked fingernail too. ;-7

Mantei's had trouble with his fingernail, as well.

Cracked fingernails are really nasty and they hurt like crap. I've had one before (the nail got loose from where it's attached to my finger...playing ball I think)...the nail on my pinky fell off completely. It looked nasty as a new one was growing up halfway...there was only the inner nail on my fingernail while it was growing. Anyway, it was pretty tender and hard as hell to grip anything...I can only imagine how it would feel for a pitcher on a bigger finger.

Affeldt had his removed in the offseason. I guess it looks pretty funky without a nail on one of his fingers.
