Valverde didn't help himself again last night ... just pathetic.

Not sure which of the standard lame Forum excuses to pull out of the bag here ...

a) High pitch count
b) Tipping his pitches ..

Valverde got hammered again tonight. I still don't think he's toast. If you've been watching them the D-Backs are currently an organization in complete disarray.

Their 3 young "studs" that they expected to perform have been mediocre so far: Webb/Cintron/Valverde.

Their superstar's shoulder is in such bad condition that the cutoff men basically have to run all the way out to him when he's throwing to the infield.

Their key pickup in the offseason--for whom they gave up both young talent and veterans--is badly injured and may miss the rest of the year.

The list could go on. My point is that in all this turmoil Valverde hasn't played that poorly. (Heck, his era is well over 3 points lower than Borowski's!)

The ONLY bright spot in the D-Backs season so far has been the Unit's apparent return to dominance.

Could you pick up a closer who plays on another team? Possibly, like Jason Frasor of Toronto or something. I would keep an eye on Arizona but forget about Colorado. Chacon is probably the best they'll get.
