Mackowiak viable?

Postby This is the year » Sat May 29, 2004 12:10 am

Do you think Mackowiak is a viable FA pickup? Any projections on him? Is he this year's Brian Giles? He has 2B, 3B, and OF eligibility 8-o

I'm not expecting much, but I just picked him up so he can play 2B while Jose Vidro is sh*tting himself on my bench. I'm just looking for him to hold his own -- decent batting average, maybe a few HRs here and there. Anything extra would be a welcome bonus.

Oh, and no, he's not this years Brian Giles. He's not this year's Marcus Giles. He's this years Rob Mackowiak. Don't expect too much, because then he WILL disappoint. He's a bandage player, and that's it.

There is no "I" in team but there are two "I"s in statistics - oh, there are also a few "tits" in there also.

I don't know that I'd totally write him off. I'm using him for the injured Marcus Giles myself as well, and any player with double digit HRs and 2B eligibility sounds like a viable option to me.

Between Mackowiak and Uribe, my MI has 4 HRs in the past two days.

Actually, I liken Mackowiak to last year's Frank Catalanotto, not so much that they are similar players, but because he has 2B eligibility, which Catalanotto had last year. While Catalanotto was a consistent player with a good BA, occasional power and deent run production, Mackowiak is going to be a pretty nice power source, but with a slightly lesser average.
