Sheff and Vlad aren't that different when they're both healthy. But Sheff has a bad thuimb, which isn't affecting his play, but could sideline him for the season if it requires surgery. Vlad has a bad leg or back or something, cuz he can barely run. Vlad's definately an impropvement though, and if you think the 4-6 weeks will make a difference, go ahead and reverse it. Zambrano has been very good at times this year. He really only has 2 bad starts, and they were spead out so it just seems to be an off-day here and there. Peavy hasn't been that good, it's mostly luck that he hasn't given up more ER's. His WHIP is worse than last year, and so is his BAA. That's a bad sign. I would go so far as to say he's lucky he doesn't have a 4+ ERA and a .500 record at best. The lack of HR's given up has definately been the key thing keeping his ERA down, but is it luck or does he have some new approach that's keeping the ball in the park (or perhaps it's the new park itself). In any case, I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.
I'd take back the deal, but not because of Peavy's injury; because he's not as good as advertised. The injury obviously solidifies my opinions, though.
"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."
