Phillies' Thome sits with sore finger

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Phillies first baseman Jim Thome was scratched from the starting lineup for Friday night's game against Atlanta because of a finger injury.
Thome missed five games because of the injury before returning Tuesday. He was 3-for-9 with two RBIs in three games after he came back.
Thome sprained a ligament after adjusting the way he gripped the bat to compensate for an injured left thumb. On Friday, the club listed his injury as mild tendinitis.
"It's just a nagging injury that I'm trying to put behind me," Thome said.
Thome was examined Friday and got an injection.
Manager Larry Bowa said he expects Thome - .319 with 11 homers and 24 RBIs this season - to play on Saturday.
