Pitching Strategy

Postby mullet » Mon Mar 31, 2003 4:46 pm

Yahoo 12 team h2h league

My league starts 2 SP, 2 RP, and 2 P

Wins
K's
ERA
Saves
WHIP

My pitchers:
Halladay SP
Hudson SP
Wolf SP
Clement SP
Wells SP
Wakefield SP or RP
Armando Benitez RP
Octavio Dotel RP
Arthur Rhodes RP

As you can see I only have 1 closer. I have some solid starters and Wakefield actually qualifies as a starter and Relief picher. Right now I am starting him as a RP. So, I really have 5 SP and 1 Closer. I was wondering if I should try to ditch Saves and get another guy who qualifies as SP or RP but is really a SP. Then I'd essentially be starting 6 SP's and no RP's. Two guys that I know qualify as SP and RP are Pineiro and Graves. What do you all think of this strategy?

Thanks

I think you at least need to have the option of using relievers. If I know you're going to use six starters against me, I'll start my top closer and nobody else, taking three out of five categories more often than not...

I tried that last year in one of my leagues, ended up in seventh.
