Lofton had less at bats, so I'll modify him up to match the 1800 ABs
- 1800 AB, .267 AVG, .348 OBP, .411 SLG, averages 28 SB, 15 HRs, 111 runs, 72 RBIs
Overall, you may get a couple more RBIs and SBs with Lofton, but you're giving up On Base which is critical. Also, Stewart plays on a much better (offensivley) team than Lofton, and isn't batting behind a pitcher, so should have more opportunity for RBIs.
Last thing: OPS for the past 3 years:
Stewart: .881, .831, .813
Lofton: .791, .720, .764
Both going down, but Lofton has always been lower. I take OPS to be the "bible" truth-teller on who to start (and who is better).
I wouldn't even give this thought. Stewart in a heartbeat.
He's leading off a great a Blue Jay lineup. He's in a contract year, hit's for great average. Won't get a lot of Hr (15?) or RBI (60?) but his Runs and AVG will be great. SB he'll get you atleast 20. He should be good for more then 30 but with it being a contract year he may not run as much, to keep himself out of injury.
i jusy looked at my team(i took your guy's advice) and stewert is at 0-3 in the 6th and and ironicly lofton goes 2-4, HR, 3 rbi's and 2 runs. well, thats baseball for ya.
OPS is On-Base Percentage + Slugging Percentage. It is a pretty good estimate of offensive ability
It is just one day.
