What about Tyler Houston??? He's hot right now. Any room in my lineup for him as a utility player?

David Eckstein U

Erik Hinske U

Currently 2nd in my 10 team 4x4 league:

10th in BA
2nd in HR
3rd in RBI
5th in SB

Well, I don't think you want two 3b's at your utility position unless you have a very deep bench, so that leaves a choice between Hinske and Houston. Houston has the hot hand right now, and could be a better value if his move up the batting order is permanent. If not, then Hinske should stay ahead. I'd say grabbing Houston is probably worth the gamble right now, but keep an eye on the batting order.

Well, I'm not going to get the Chipper, but I was just offered
Berkman for Glavine. Need the batting help and I think Glavine is at his peak. Do you think it's a good trade? I offered Glavine and Wickman for Berkman and Nen, but he said he couldn't give up his pitching because he's weak at pitching.

I'm currently 2nd in a 4x4 10 team league. I have a strong pitching staff and my batting is weaker.

I'm currently 2nd in RBI's and HR's, but 5th and 10th in SB and Avg.

Here is my lineup:

Marrero, Eli STL C
Pudge TEX C
Bagwell, Jeff HOU 1B
Spivey ARI 2B
Chavez, Eric OAK 3B
Arod TEX SS
Sanchez, MIL OF
Anderson, Garret ANA OF
Finley ARZ OF
Guerrero, Vladimir MON OF
Salmon, Tim ANA OF
David Eckstein ANI Utility
Hinske, Eric TOR Utility

IR:
Gordon, Tom

Pitching (Currently 4th in ERA, 2th in K's. 5th in Saves, 1st in Wins)

Glavine, Tom ATL P
Halladay TOR P
Julio, Jorge BAL P
Stewart, Scott TOR P
Johnson, Randy ARI P
Prior, Mark CHC P
Wickman, Bob CLE P
Perez, Odalis LA P
Padilla, Vicente PHI P

If I trade Glavine, here are the available pitchers to pick up on FA:

Fogg, Josh
Ohka, Tomo
Tony Fiore
Chris Hammond
LaTroy Hawkins
Paul Byrd
Rodrigo Lopez

Do you think Berkman is enough for Glavine? Here is his batting lineup:

Lopez, Javy ATL C
Piazza, Mike NYM C
Palmeiro, Rafael TEX 1B
Soriano, Alfonso NYY 2B Active
Hillenbrand, Shea BOS 3B
Womack, Tony ARI SS
Berkman, Lance HOU OF
Floyd, Cliff FLA OF
Sierra, Ruben SEA OF
Green, Shawn LA OF
Jordan, Brian LA OF
Casey, Sean CIN U
Ventura, Robin NY U

Seems like a nice option in your situation to take Berkman straight up. I agree with the others in that you were offering too little for Chipper and Damon. Berkman solves many hitting woes except your SB situation and maybe (if you're lucky this late in the year) you could use your strong bench to get a speedster.

If I take the trade give up Glavine for Berkman:

Who should I drop from my outfield:

Sanchez
Salmon
Finley

Who should I pick up as a pitcher:

Fogg, Josh
Ohka, Tomo
Tony Fiore
Chris Hammond
LaTroy Hawkins
Paul Byrd
Rodrigo Lopez

or should I go after a closer:

Osuna

personally, I'd pick up Ohka and drop Finley. You basically end up with Berkman and Ohka vs Glavine and Finley and got much of the hitting help you needed.

Well, I accepted the trade so hopefully the owners in the other league will accept it and then I can pick up Okha and drop Finley. Thanks for the advice.

I'd concur on picking up Okha and dropping Finley.

we've got to stop agreeing so much.

Well, I would have loved to have been able to jump in and disagree with everyone, but I'm afraid that I really like this solution... B-)

Poor Paul Byrd - 10 wins and we still like Okha better. When do you start to give him some credit? I still can't bring myself to do it but he is still winning.
