4 sp from the same team! is this bad?

Postby bucsfan04 » Tue May 25, 2004 10:13 pm

I just picked up Eric Milton of the waiver wire. Now I have the top four pitchers for the Phillies: Millwood, Wolf, Padilla, and Milton. Is this a good idea? I figure the Pillies ar gonna do good this year. I can always trade one for a good hitter.

not a good idea at all, if the team goes on a slump you are screwed. Unless you have Clemens, Pettite, Oswalt, and Miller then its all good B-)

Or Prior, Wood, Zambrano, Clement. I would love to have all of them on my team! Those are 3 top pitchers and one very good pitcher. Damn.

I have 4 Yankee starters (Vazquez, Brown, Lieber, & Contreras) on one team, but I'll most likely lose Lieber sooner than later. The win tonight is nice, but that K/9 is killing me.
As for those Philly starters, I like Wolf & Millwood but am not sold on Padilla and Milton.

I have had the same four. The only guy i had doubts about before this season started was Milton, and so far he has been gravy. Don't stress they are all quality!

Just curious why you wouldnt be sold on Padilla.....

Padilla's career K ratio is subpar. For me, an ideal fantasy picher should be closer to 1 per inning.

1 weak link can cost you the catergory.

i dont really think it is a bad idea to have 4 starters rom the same team. i wouldnt go out of my way to get them all, but over a 162 game season, if they are all good pitchers, it doesnt matter. in h2h leagues, it could be another story, especially come fantasy playoff time

Padilla is starting to turn the corner. His stuff is very good, and he has reached the 500 innings mark where alot of pitchers take a big step. I see no reason why this guy won't improve his K's this year and be a valuable starter.

Having 4 starters from one team isn't necessarily a bad idea...but you could have chosen a better team. That new ballpark is going to inflate all of their ratios from last years' numbers, so be ready for it.

Its a mixed blessing. It means you are less likely to get that week where you have 4 starters starting twice assuring you of the K and W categories almost by default, but on the flip side it means every week you are likely to get 1 or 2 double starts. Personally I like having 3 astro starters and would gladly add Clemens to make it 4~
