This Mondesi fiasco, in relation to the blocked Arod deal, is a farce.
Can anyone explain this to me? The Union is OK with players walking away if they make more money? This sickens me.
Boston Globe wrote:The Pirates signed him for just a fraction of the $13 million he was paid by the Yankees in 2003, giving him a contract for $1.15 million in 2004 and an $8 million option for 2005 with a $600,000 buyout. Mondesi's agents are confident he will sign a new deal that will guarantee him more than the $1.75 million he would have received from the Pirates, and they are looking for a two-year deal.
"I'm not sure the Red Sox are willing to step up to that level," the source said.
The Player's Union is OK with this mess because I don't think they have much choice. Mondesi was in breach of contract so they have no recourse against PIT, who was in the right. Maybe some team will come along and prove me wrong but who is going to pay Mondesi more than he was making with PIT, especially now?
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Word is that Anaheim will because of their injuries.
It is. Mondesi is a bum, just glad he's not coming anywhere near my team.

I bashed these guys a lot coming into the season especially after the whole pee & pizza event but these guys bust their asses. They hustle on every ball, they are always energetic and they have gotten some clutch hits.

Clutch hitters don't exist, I will concede that, but no one can argue clutch hits exists, they exist.

Uh-oh.
Oh man, the dreaded "C" word. Ugh.
Anyway, it shouldn't be surprising that the Union is fine with this deal. Mondesi went on extended leave without permission and the Pirates voided his contract. He's free to sign with anyone for any amount of money. The Union really doesn't have much of a say in the matter.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
