What do you know about Joe Blanton. Is the moneyball draftee pitcher going to be called up anytime soon? I'm just looking to stay a step above the other dopes in my league, as well as interested in seeing how the moneyball products are turning out (my favorite book by far)

The guy is flat out lights out. Hes got a solid changeup hes been hard at work on. His sinker is in the mid 90s, he has excellent control and locates his fastballs well. His K/BB ration is about 8:1. He needs another year I think , plus Oakland does not need a starter now.
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!
May as well add in my couple of pennies worth. Blanton is definitely a huge prospect. Routinely throws 93-94, touches 96. Nasty slider and a curve as well. Developing changeup. Awesome command of all pitches.
The only negatives I'm aware of is a tendency to occasionally overthrow and that there is some worry about his motion, which is anything but effortless.
But there's no question he's on the fast track. 3-1, low 3 ERA at Sacto this season, which is damn impressive seeing as how he was supposed to open at Midland this year. Only blip is that his K rate has dropped at the AAA level, but it's early.
I think there's a good chance he grabs a few starts in September (depending on the A's standing, I guess) and he'll get quite a bit of attention when he arrives.
With Harden looking better lately and Blanton coming up the ranks, the A's should trade Zito this year and they'd have a better rotation. Haha, just trying to needle Zito is God. All in good fun.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
If what i hear is true then they should finally turn richy harden into the closer and move blanton into the rotation. Rhodes would be much better as a setup man and that would help out the middle relief.

Haha, I agree.
