Dotel setting up?

Postby PresHabib » Mon May 24, 2004 9:45 pm

I just heard on ESPN they were thinking about flipflopping lidge and dotel?? Is this true? Is it time to move Dotel? I just traded for him 2 weeks ago...this upsets me.

Don't worry about it. Notice the 3 run homer off Lidge tonight? Trust me, there is nothing to worry about...unless they trade for someone.

I did see the bomb...but thats when whoever is calling the game said that "They had been talkin movin lidge to the closer role"...I don't want to worry, but my closing situation doesn't need to be worse, so this would be no good...was there at least talk of this in the recent past?

There have been a few rumors here and there...but I think they are all overreactions. I mentioned in another thread that Dotel was groomed to be the closer after Wagner's inevitable departure, and is still viewed as the closer of the future. I don't think they are willing to just give up so soon, it will take at least a few more blown saves IMO before that happens.

as a dotel owner i loved watching lidge get torched but who knows with jim(m)y what he will do.

maybe he can start by permanently penciling berkman into the cleanup spot being that he has the 2nd best OPS in the majors. idiot.

Baseball Tonight just said something about the Astros needing another arm in the bullpen, preferably a lefty...but their budget is very limited.

Are there any good lefty setup men/closers even available? I can't think of any unless the Astros/A's decided to do a Rhodes/Dotel swap or something like that....but that would be stupid on the Astros' part.

I would not worry about it for now, just thought I would mention it.

as a guy who has both lidge and Octavio i was not worried either way, but I was also extremely displeased tonight.

Both Lidge and Dotel have great stuff, and since Jimy likes to give his starters the quick hook, they'll get plenty of wins and saves.

Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

As a lidge owner i'm glad he got torched tonight. i don't want the bum to be a closer cuz i'm stacked for closers and need Middle relievers for Holds bad.
