Minor Leauge 2b help needed

Postby Kingsac » Mon May 24, 2004 5:53 pm

Hi Guys I'm having a minor league draft right now and I am up. I am weakest at 2nd base and have in my opinion narrowed the choices down to either Richie Weeks, or Josh Barfield. If any of you guys have any opinions on which of these two would be the better pick please let me know. As of right now I'm leaning on Weeks. By the way Greike is still available, Upton went first.

Hairston has also just been called up. He's supposed to be great offensively, the only knock is that he might not remain at 2B. But he seems to be playing there so far. Weeks is better though. But an idea would be to grab Greinke now, and get Hairston later on. Jayson Nix is another guy you could get later who could turn out to be a great offensive 2B, especially since he plays for Colorado.

Barfield is having a rough start this year, but I'd take him over Weeks. I'm probably in the minority.

I'd grab Greinke and then see which of the two fall back to you. :-)

I have them rated Weeks, then Greinke, then Barfield. Can't seemingly go wrong with any of them, they're all bigtimers. But I don't have Barfield at the same level as the other two.

Here's another thought. I rate Delmon Young as my overall #1, ahead of even Upton. How 'bout picking him up and worrying about 2B with the next pick. Even if you're loaded at Young's spot, there's always the option of trading, and I have to think he'd command lots of attention.
