Time to dump my Expos?

Postby BobbyRoberto » Sun May 23, 2004 3:07 am

I drafted Jose Vidro, 2B and Brad Wilkerson, CF and hoped for good things from them. They've stunk all year long. The team isn't scoring any runs (2.8 per game). How long do I stick with them? Vidro's been so good for so long, I just can't imagine giving up on him for someone like Mark Bellhorn or Ronnie Belliard (the best available 2Bs).

Our hitting categories are R, HR, RBI, SB, OBP, SLG. With the OBP and SLG categories, I expected both of them to be solid picks.

Best Available 2Bs: Bellhorn, Belliard
Best Available CFs: Finley, Byrnes, Figgins, Dellucci

I also have Nick Johnson on the DL. Will his presence in the Expos lineup make enough difference to hang tight with Vidro and Wilkerson?
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'

the return of Nick Johnson really ought to add a little more pop to that lineup, but I wouldn't expect miracles.

I wouldn't cut bait on vidro -- 2B is way too shallow a position to be just surrendering one of the potentially best 2B out there. Wilkerson is another matter. I think finley, figgins or even delucci should produce on roughly his level (if not better). I'd try my luck there.

Another option would be to hold on to vidro and pick up bellhorn (high OBP, I believe) until vidro wakes up.
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll drown because you forgot to teach him to swim.

Keep Figgins

Drop Wilkerson for either Finley (HR's) or Figgins (AVG, SB, OF-3B eligibility).

I need some 1B help: http://fantasybaseballcafe.com/forums/v ... hp?t=63850
