Williamson goes on DL

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Boston placed relief pitcher Scott Williamson on the 15-day disabled list Friday with right elbow inflammation.

In 14 appearances, Williamson is 0-0 with one save and a 1.69 earned run average for the Red Sox. The move is retroactive to Wednesday.

In seven seasons with the Red Sox and Cincinnati, Williamson owns a 25-23 record with a 3.06 ERA

To take Williamson's place, Boston recalled pitcher Anastacio Martinez from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Martinez is expected to be available for Friday night's game against Toronto at Fenway Park.
