Maddux for Nen/Sabathia?

Postby timkell » Tue Jun 18, 2002 4:42 pm

I think I can get Maddux for Nen and Sabathia.

Here are my pitchers:
Gagne, Eric LA P
Morris, Matt STL P
Johnson, Randy ARI P
Tomko, Brett SD P
Sabathia, C.C. CLE P
Nen, Robb SF P
Wickman, Bob CLE P
Beckett, Josh FLA P
Hernandez, Orlando NYY P
Finley, Chuck CLE P

I can start 7. El Duque and Beckett are hurt, and I just picked up Finley from the FA pool, so those guys are my reserves. Right now, I'm playing three closers, but I'd prefer to play only two. Total points are all that matter in my league.

After the trade, I would start:
Gagne, Eric LA P
Morris, Matt STL P
Johnson, Randy ARI P
Tomko, Brett SD P
Maddux, Greg ATL P
Wickman, Bob CLE P
Finley, Chuck CLE P

Beckett, Josh FLA P
Hernandez, Orlando NYY P

I would most likely pick up Randy Wolf or Ruben Quevedo from the Waiver Wire after the trade.

Hoping Beckett comes back from his stinking blister injury, and El Duque has another half season left in that body, I could have a VERY formidable staff, but the next three weeks would be touch and go, and I lose depth at closer.

Good deal or what?

In a points league where you only want two closers anyway, I like this deal very much. The only reservation is Maddux' strained calf - if you can wait on the deal until all concerns about this are put aside, that would make it even better.

Looks good!

I still may go for it, but first I'm enquiring about Freddy Garcia. He's got no injury worries, and I think he's pretty awesome. see if I can get him for Nen straight up. I will keep you posted!
