Where do I need to improve?

Postby dloke » Fri May 21, 2004 10:33 am

I'm playing in a ten team, standard 5x5 points league. Right now I'm in 4th place with solid offensive stats and terrible ERA and WHIP. I'd love some input on my squad. I'll look at yours...

C - Posada-----SP - Oswalt
1B - D. Lee-----SP - Beckett
2B - Kent-----SP - Maddux
SS - Tejada-----SP - Buehrle
3B - Mora-----SP - Piniero
OF - Beltran-----SP - D. Willis
OF - Huff-----SP - AJ Burnett (DL)
OF - Burrell-----RP - Rhodes
Util - Pierre-----RP - Graves
B - Juan Gone-----RP - Urbina
B - Patterson-----RP - Valverde

I've considered trying to trade Mora now while his value is high as I can plug Huff in at 3B (Ensberg is also still available) as well as Graves. The kid in last place in our league has Zito, Moose and Wood and would possible move one of those guys. Thoughts?

You just need better pitchers, the guys you have like maddux, willis, piniero have been getting pounded.

I agree..you need better pitching. You have a strong outfield, cause I expect huff to pick it up. Also I believe oswalt will turn it around, so maybe just try and ride it out for a couple weeks.

Yeah, I'd try to get wood while he's on the DL(lower value). Your SP could improve with burnett coming back, though.

I just traded Mora for Schmidt to upgrade my pitching. Another kid has offered me Dunn for Rhodes (or Graves), is it worth it? Should I pursue other OFs instead? Also, with Schmidt now on my staff is there a SP I should drop and pick up Ensberg as 3B insurance?

10 team, 5x5 roto league. non-keeper.
Posada, D. Lee, Kent, Tejada, Huff, Beltran, Burrell, Pierre, Patterson, Juan Gone.
Oswalt, Schmidt, Beckett, Maddux, J. Piniero, Willis, Buehrle, Burnett, Rhodes, Graves, Urbina, Valverde.

I think that getting Dunn for Rhodes would be a decent trade for you. A lot of people don't like Dunn because his lower average and 2 dimenionsional stats, but I think he would be a good add for just Rhodes. At the very least, you could trade for Dunn and then parlay that into another offer. Take a look at my post...thanks.
