He just got cut in my league. My roster is full of underperforming guys, and I don't know what to do. Shawn Green, Aubrey Huff, Reyes, Prior, etc.

Old thread, but with as many people that were dropping Tex, I figured I'd give this a little bump ;-)

I am very glad I help onto him. Actually, I never really thought of dropping him. Why drop a guy with that much potential who has been unable to play much early in the season? THose who did hang onto him have gotten a top 20 player since, and those who dropped him are almost as sorry as those who dropped Santana.

You know, he sat on the wire a bit, and I have no idea why I didn't pick him up. Oh well. I still am in first.

Why did you have to bring this back up? I could have gone all winter without thinking about Teix. Like a dummy, I listened to the negative comments here and read the Rangers were thinking of platooning him and at the time couldn't afford a part-time player, so I cut him. The guy who picked him up has laughed at me every time we've seen each other since.

Thankfully, he'll be back in our auction next spring, though I doubt I'll get him for the $2 I spent on him last season.

There was an important lesson here for me. When the rumors start flying about a player, wait until his production falls too far or they actually start platooning him before you cut him. I acted on rumor and conjecture and it cost me a great young player.

Imagine the numbers he could have put up had he been "on" all year. Hopefully next year he can be more consistent and put up the monster numbers he's capable of. He and Morneau are locked into my sights for next year.

Thankfully, I listed to the "smart" Cafe foled and kept Teixeira. He's been my 3B all seson long and I am glad.
