Your Biggest Fantasy Mistake This Season?

Postby Chicago » Tue Jun 18, 2002 4:57 am

We all have that one great blunder we regret and now ask, "What was I thinking?" That early trade that gave away a superstar for a super dud, or a player you dropped that's turned into a fantasy stud.

Here's mine so far:

About a month ago, my pitching staff was pretty stacked, and too many dead teams in the league didn't leave much room for trades. My offense was struggling, so in order to pick up a free agent, I had to choose between dropping John Lieber or Barry Zito. So based on last years stats, I decided Zito had to go. Doh! :-o Lieber is currently sitting on the bench.

I traded Andruw Jones for Rich Aurilia. It was my first ever fantasy trade.. My second ever fantasy trade, shipping Amando Benitez for Kevin Brown. LOL. I suck!

So far my biggest regret is dropping Woody Williams. He is really looking good right now.

I'm out! ;-D

I droppped Torii Hunter to waivers the day before the season started. (For Reggie Sandes-- yuck!)

I thought Hunter was just a good glove, but had no bat. Plus the two I's in his name seemed pretty fruity.

I thought that Jose Ortiz and Juan Uribe would make a pretty nifty middle infield... Shows what I know. :->

Unless something changes, my big mistake this year was focusing on drafting 2B and not trading Alomar for a big slugger early. He has been very disappointing so far and my lack of power is the one thing hurting me in the standings right now.

We were all greatly saddened by Darryl Kile's death. A tragedy such as this really puts things in perspective.

Billy Wagner's words about how Kile took him to breakfast on his first day in the majors perfectly summed up just what type of person Kile was. He'll be sorely missed.
