Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday due to an injured right triceps.
The righthander left his last start on May 11 against Los Angeles because of tightness in his triceps. Tests the following day revealed muscle inflammation and mild tendinitis in his right elbow.
Wood missed a start Sunday because of the injury and then didn't feel 100 percent in a brief bullpen session on Thursday.
Wood is 3-3 with a 2.82 earned run average in seven starts this season.
Meanwhile, Wood's teammate Mark Prior, hasn't pitched at all this season while recovering from an inflamed Achilles' tendon and a sore elbow.
Michael Wuertz from Triple-A Iowa will take Wood's spot on the roster.
