Lazy? Sucks as a ball player? Let me guess, you think Larry Bowa is a good manager as well
I'm in Chicago, so I don't hear much about the Phillies. WHy is he such a lazy non-team player? Does he make stupid comments or anything? Any info about him would be greatly appreciated. Just out of curiosity, because I always thought he was a good guy.
He's stereotyped as a lazy player because he isn't as athletic in the outfield as some players, rather then being down to just being an average outfielder, he's assumed to be lazy.
He has allegedly been selfish by not wanting to play in a non RBI spot like 1 or 2 but that's all really. Guy has an amazing OBP, consistent 5 tooled player, I'm glad he's on the Phillies.
Here is a paraphrased quote from Mr. Abreu at the end of last year....
Well the team didnt do too well, but I hit 300 & put numbers so it was a good year in my book.
If you watch the Phils day in & out like I do you realize he doesnt run hard, he refuses to dive for balls, he is selfish & worries only about himself, nothing about the team

Manny is similar, and you don't hear me complaining.

I'd rather have him hit 300 than 200...especially if your a Phillies fan...
I'm loving Abreau right now...the next morning when I check my stats for last night I get a big ole' smile seeing 3/4's, 4/5's, 2/3's, etc....
