Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds was not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Chicago Cubs and could be headed to the disabled list because of a back injury.
Bonds missed three straight games with back spasms this past weekend against Pittsburgh and returned to the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs.
However, he woke up Wednesday morning in pain and underwent an MRI exam. The Giants don't expect him to play Thursday either.
"We're not making any plans for him to play tomorrow," said Giants manager Felipe Alou, who added that the chances are 50-50 that Bonds would be placed on the disabled list.
In 33 games this season, Bonds is hitting .351 with 10 home runs and 22 runs batted in.
