Minor League Sleepers?

I agree, though one game can screw up your whip too. With the era that low, to me it shows it knows how o pitch with men on base pretty well. Also I never said he was going to do well. He's a nice pitching prospect but not a stellar one, I just said keep an eye on him if he does well. Cause no one expected Willis to do what he did.

Willis was the Minor League pitcher of the year I believe....this guy is a nobody with a 3-2 record in AAA. But like anybody, if he makes a few good starts give him a shot.

MLB.com wrote:Many Brewers fans were excited about the possibility of pitching prospect Ben Hendrickson getting recalled to start Saturday's game at Pittsburgh.

Yost would rather wait.

The skipper said he would prefer to let Hendrickson continue his development in the minors and use a combination of relievers to pitch Saturday's game.

Looks like it's not an issue yet anyway.

If you think Willis was that great as a prospect and this guy is a no body. That shows right there that you don't follow prospects that much. NO ONE at all expected that from Willis, he wasn't even a top pitching prospect. He was a good one but not one of the best. All that being said he could totally bomb, but he is not a no body. Not to mention i don't see how it is prevalent to bring in his W-L record, which is mostly reliant on the team you are pitching for.

"But like anybody, if he makes a few god starts give him a shot"

that's all I was asking before you started calling him a no body.

Well I'm not trying to be negative, but he hasn't been that good in the minors. Dontrelle was very good in the minors, and was minor league pitcher of the year. I think I already mentioned that. I don't see what separates this guy from all the other mediocre mnor league pitchers.

With a 0.96 WHIP and 4.32 K/BB ratio

Comparing this guy to Willis is like comparing Schilling to Sturtze

I never expected you too, but then again you know nothing on this guy except a few stats. He only has the 5th best era of any starter in triple a.....but that doesn't mean anything I guess.

Also Willis minor league stats are a bit misleading. He was really good in the minors, though he was rushed. Only pitched about 40 innings above A ball. Most good pitching prospects have good numbers there.

man people get into this and forget what i originally said. the only way i am comparing him to willis is that neither were expected to do much in the bigs when they were called up. willis was a better prospect though.

I know, I'm not trying to get into a fight..........Hendrickson has been OK this year but nothing special in his MiLB career. I don't think 8 slightly above average starts make him likely for any success in the majors. It goes without saying that any pitcher could turn out to be good. That's why I thought you were compating him to Dontrelle. We'll just leave it at that, until he makes his first few starts.

That's fine, and I agree he hasn't shown to be anything special. But he has pitched well enough to be mentioned as a minor league sleeper ... which i believe is what this thread was originally about. Anyways if i had to bet i would say he doesn't do to well at first either.

i doubt this kid was even considered one of the Cards top 10 prospects at the beginning of the season, but certainly is now. and with the state of Cardinals pitching.....
