Marlins place Cordero on the DL

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Florida Marlins Wednesday placed outfielder/infielder Wil Cordero on the 15-day disabled list due to inflammation in his right knee.

The move is retroactive to May 17. The Marlins also picked up infielder Larry Sutton from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Cordero played in 22 contests this season and batted .213 with six runs batted in. He had played the last two campaigns with the Montreal Expos. In 2003, he owned a .278 average with 16 homers and 71 RBI in 130 games.

In another move, Florida also designated infielder Kevin Hooper for assignment.
