there is a new forum for these posts. It's called the Game Commentary, Jubilation and Venting forum.

Lets use it so that we don't clutter up the FBT forum ok?

This post isn't a game commentary... rather it's speculation on Toronto's new closer.

You got me. I agree.

I had just posted the identical (almost) post in the other forum.

The Jays have had no luck at all with closers and it is now a cursed position on the team. Politte, Lopez, Lightenberg, Speier, Adams - these are all good pitchers who blew up in this role.

There is something to be said about the mental toughness required of a closer. We need somebody who can hold it together for 3 outs. Maybe get Koch back.

Sadly the Jays could only afford to spend about $3M on their bullpen this offseason. These cheapos sometimes pan out, but more often than not they blow up.

I hope that they don't ruin Frasor by sticking him in there. There best bet is to pick up a Koch/Mantei/Worrell/Beck/Carter who has done the job before but might be a bit more expensive.

Frasor closed effectively last year at A and AA, getting 23 saves after strictly starting in prior pro campaigns. He's been the best reliever for the Jays at any rate, so see no reason he should not be given a crack at the post, one he has a legit chance to earn fulltime.
