Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds activated outfielder Austin Kearns from the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday and sent outright outfielder Jason Romano to Triple-A Louisville.
Kearns, on the DL since April 28 with a non-displaced fracture of his left forearm, spent the past three weeks in a rehab assignment with Louisville, where he hit safely in six of his eight appearances with the Bats.
He was injured during an April 26 win at Pittsburgh when pitcher Ryan Vogelsong hit him with a pitch. Before that, Kearns was batting just .137 for the season and was mired in a 2-for-23 slump at the time of his injury.
Romano was just 1-for-16 in 15 appearances with the Reds. He was claimed off waivers from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on April 22.
