Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder J.J. Davis was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a sprained right pinky.
Davis suffered the injury last Thursday in the opener of a doubleheader against Colorado. He has appeared in 16 games this season and is batting just .095 with no homers and two RBI.
Meanwhile, the club purchased the contract of outfielder Ruben Mateo from Triple-A Nashville. In 35 contests for the Sounds, Mateo hit .316 with 11 home runs and 25 RBI.
