Crossing phone lines.

Wondering if anyone has ever had the fun of being able to hear a neighbor's telephone conversation while you were on the phone with someone yourself. Last night I was on the phone with my girlfriend when I guess lines got crossed and me and her could hear this guy making a telephone call. I thought it was gonna be funny to be able to hear it but it turned out depressing as the guy was talking to his friend about another friend of their's that was probably gonna die due to brain hemorraging(sp?). Anyone else ever have the fun/disappointment of hearing other's phone calls?

I've had that happen with my portable phone before. I usually just hang up and dial again. My luck, I'd always end up hearing about someone's loss and it's none of my business, so I try to respect their privacy.

I didn't do it on this past call, but before when the lines got crossed I hung up the phone and when I called whoever back, I could still hear the people having their conversation also.
