Jose Contreras - S - Yankees May. 18 - 11:14 pm et

Jose Contreras will be recalled from the minors to start Saturday against the Rangers.
It looks like somebody overruled somebody in New York. The Yankees aren't exactly going to ease Contreras back into action by having him start in Texas. It's a good idea to pick him up in any leagues in which he's still available, but he should probably be benched for his first outing back.

Not that I'm going to start him on Saturday...but ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D

Anyone have info on his last start for Columbus? Last I heard a few days ago, he was still shaky. Unless he really dominated in his last start, I wish they would leave him down there a little while longer. We just traded for Sturtze so I figured he'd at least get a start before calling up that bum Contreras.

Shaky? 4 walks says yes. But 12 Ks shows that the stuff is still there.

I like that he's starting against Texas at Arlington. It will be a good test.

Only the desperate and foolish should start him.

Why in God's name would you want Tanyon Sturtze to even throw a pitch for you guys? You might as well go find where Brien Taylor is living and give him a chance.

I'm just truly disgusted with Contreras.

Personally, I picked him up in two of my leagues, and kept him on my bench in the other one. Contreras is a fantastic pitcher, and all that he needed to do was get some confidence back. I'd say 12 K's would instill a little confidence. However, I'm still not 100% sure he's back yet. I'll stick with him even if he gets crushed against Texas. If it happens again, I might finally send him away. Anyway, if he's available in your league, and you have some roster space, PICK HIM UP! I remember nearly every time he was drafted in my leagues people were saying what a steal it was. If he's back, then he could be one of the top starters on your team.

I can see it now... a BK Kim for Jose Contreras deal to rid both teams of their respective cancers.
