Exactly what I was thinking. One bad outing doesn't necessarily mean that the guy is too old and injured to pitch well next time. Here's to good fortune for the rest of the year. ;-D

Who was that one guy who kept talking crap about Alvarez after his last start?

Oh yeah, it was me. :-D But I will admit, Alvarez isn't this bad but he wasn't as good as most people made him out to be either. I wouldn't start Alvarez outside of Chavez Ravine if I owned him.

TheAbreu, you should drop Alvarez for Cliff Lee. Lee actually has some pretty good stuff.

Okay, people. He's good and not this bad, but he's not as good as he was earlier this year (come on, nobody is). His pitches are hittable, but his control is impeccable. Alvarez will get hit hard (long) sometime when he's figured out because he can't blow fastballs past people, but he's still a good pitcher. He's even better pitching at home...plus, look at his WHIP...even tonight. 1.25 is not bad...even though he's getting shelled.

IF I saw this thread then for sure I wouldn't have started him.

I am expecting him to give up 7ER tonight :-P

Since I am in last place in ERA and WHIP i won't lose points there but I'll never catch up.

WHY did you have to start this thread?

Not too bad of a prediction so far :-D

This is starting to sound like Matt Riley all over again.

Do you do your own homework? You can't blame the people on this board for your mistakes, i.e. Riley. If you're that nervous about Alvarez I'd drop him. !+)

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
